The Story So Far…

Castings Technology benefits from over a century of working closely with OEMs and Tier One casting buyers.

Castings Technology grew out of the government’s desire to establish research and technology capabilities that support UK manufacturing.

The British Cast Iron Research Association was formed in 1923 and the British Steel Casting Research Association was formed in 1953.

These two membership organisations merged in 1996 to become Castings Technology International Ltd.

In 2006, Castings Technology relocated the bulk of its facilities to the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, UK after securing ERDF funding to construct and equip a 5,000 m² workshop.

In 2013 ownership of these facilities was transferred to the University of Sheffield where funding was secured to expand the facility to 1,200 m² and to house Europe’s largest titanium melting facility.

In 2021 following the successful installation and commissioning of one of the largest investments in a European foundry this century, the company was subject to a successful MBO and Castings Technology remains a sovereign facility.

The Future...

Following the Management Buy-Out in 2021, which saw Richard Cook, MD, and Kevin Parkin, Chairman, take the reins, the company has rapidly expanded.

Team numbers have increased by over 25% and are still growing.  In real numbers, the company welcomed their 100th member of staff early in 2025.

Castings Technology also received substantial investment from Zachary Asset Holdings in 2025 which has made it possible to expand further and move to larger premises (see below).

Our Board of Directors and Management Team are dedicated to Castings Technology being an employer of choice in the South Yorkshire region.

New Premises

The company has an exciting future ahead.

Having outgrown the current facility, plans are in place to move to a larger, 200,000 sq ft facility in Sheffield.

The new premises will be ready to move into in late 2026 once new, state of the art equipment has been installed.
